Hi everyone. I am new to the site and a proud owner of a new-to-me '91 Chev 3/4 ton conversion van (Canadian model). It has the VanAmera conversion from Kelowna.
I am not sure of the transmission model, but it has the 350 (5.7L) engine. The transmission will not downshift to passing gear when it normally would. I have to drop it from O/D to D and get up a good head of steam to pass people or climb a hill.
Could this be a vacuum related issue or a mechanical linkage issue? The transmission functions smoothly and correctly in all other aspects, I am just not sure of how the passing gear system is set up in these, and a lot of armchair mechanics are suggesting the reasons above.
Thought I'd ask the experts though...
Thanks all.
